Nematodes Associated with Brassica compestris and Their Control

چکیده
On the examination of soil around the roots of Mustard in Kashmir Valley, two species of Nematodes were met, namely Aphelenchus radicicolus Steiner,1931 and Psilenchus haki Handoo, 1977. The species were identified under Stereoscopic microscope with the little intraspecific variations from the original in terms of the dimensions. The effect of organic amendments including poultry manure, pigeon manure and saw dust was also looked into in order to calculate their effects on these species. Population densities of both the species were reduced to a considerable extent on the application of organic amendments in the order of pigeon manure > Poultry manure > saw dust.

Chemomodulatory action of Brassica compestris (var sarason) on hepatic carcinogen metabolizing enzymes, antioxidant profiles and lipid peroxidation.
The effect of two different doses (400 and 800 mg/kg body wt/day for 15 days) of a 95% ethanolic extract of the seeds of Brassica compestris (var sarason) was examined on carcinogen metabolizing phase-I and phase-II enzymes, antioxidant enzymes and glutathione content and lipid peroxidation in the liver of Swiss albino mice. Positive control mice were treated with butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA)....

On a survey during the period of 2006-2007 a number of tylenchids were found associated with Zea mays in Kashmir valley such as Pratylenchus sativus kaul, 1985, Aphelenchoides srinagrensis Kaul, 1985 and Tylenchorhynchus zeae Sethi and G. Swarp, 1968. These species were found to have morphometric variations probably due to habitat alteration from the originally described ones. As a part of the ...

The effects of Brassica green manures on plant parasitic and free living nematodes used in combination with reduced rates of synthetic nematicides.
Brassica plants once incorporated into soil as green manures have recently been shown to have biofumigant properties and have the potential of controlling plant-parasitic nematodes. In Washington State, plant-parasitic nematodes are successfully managed with synthetic nematicides. However, some of the synthetic nematicides became unavailable recently or their supply is limited leaving growers w...
متن کاملField Application of Entomopathogenic Nematodes for Control of Delia radicum in Collards.
Control of Delia radicum (cabbage maggot) in field collards (Brassica oleracea) was compared after one or two applications of entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema carpocapsae (All strain) and Heterorhabditis bacterophora (HP88 strain), a single application of granular chlorpyrifos, and a water-only treatment. Nematodes were applied with a sprayer during the egg stage of first-generation D. r...
